Arctik on stage for AEIDL’s silver jubilee

Marking the 25th Anniversary of the European Association for Information on Local Development (AEIDL), a special conference took place at the European Parliament and “Le Bouche-à-Oreille” on 19 and 20 February 2014 in Brussels. The communications for which was organised by Arctik, and in total more than 130 participants attended this silver jubilee celebration.

With the title “Reinventing Europe through local initiative” on 19 February, the conference focused on 25 local development initiatives that showcased their achievements and highlighted how new and emerging ideas and approaches at the local level can provide new perspectives for Europe. Speakers included members of the European Parliament Kinga Göncz (S&D, HU), former Hungarian social affairs minister and Eric Andrieu (S&D, FR). Speaking during the political session, Eric Andrieu said that local development initiatives have a real and genuine place to take within the post-crisis reconstruction process.

Chris Brooks, economist at SciencesPo Paris, and Marjorie Jouen, special adviser at “Notre Europe” explored the state of play of local development within the current economic, social and cultural framework.

After the sessions at the European Parliament, Arctik organised an evening cocktail inauguration at AEIDL’s newly designed premises. Arctik provided and advised on the facilities to enhance networking relations between participants. The following day, dedicated workshops were organised at “Le Bouche-à-Oreille”. These offered informative and detailed discussions, with opportunities for the pan-European participants to further engage.

On the occasion of AEIDL’s jubilee anniversary, Arctik developed a brand new design and layout for the promotion of the event whilst organising the entire logistics for the two-day conference. Arctik promoted the event through a graphical identity embedded within a new website; took take care of the daily management of the event; facilitated contact with stakeholders such as the European Parliament and participants, and built media relations.
