Your profile

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated science communications intern with a focus on public sector projects who is passionate about bridging the gap between science and society. The successful applicant will mainly contribute to our projects funded via Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. You’ll be supporting us on several of our projects, while you find out what you like most and what you are good at. We will give you real responsibilities and you will operate as a full member of our team, all while providing adequate support that gives you the room to grow.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Educational background: 
    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a master’s or postgraduate degree in science communication, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Fluent in English (excellent written and verbal skills). French, Dutch or any other European language is an asset.
    • High level of interest in communicating on science and innovation.
    • Strong academic understanding of communications principles and scientific concepts.
    • Ability to make complex information accessible to non-specialist audiences. 
    • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
    • Creative and pro-active.
    • Flexible attitude and solution-minded.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
    • Experience with design software and social media tools (knowledge of HTML, CMS systems and graphic or video software) is an asset.
    • A sense of humour is a must.

Your responsibilities

  • Work closely with project managers and researchers to ensure accurate representation of scientific data.
  • Writing and editing web articles, newsletters, and social media posts on complex scientific information.
  • Help organise events, workshops, and conferences related to Horizon projects.
  • Track and analyse the impact of communication activities via relevant metrics
  • Help write Horizon project reports.
  • Support other kind of projects undertaken by Arctik when needed.
