About this job
We are looking for a creative and motivated communications intern with a strong interest in public sector projects and sustainability issues. An interest in ocean and water-related topics and/or sustainable tourism is considered a plus, as several of our current and future activities focus on these topics.
You will primarily contribute to one flagship project, while also providing ad-hoc support to other projects when needed.You will be given real responsibilities and operate as a full member of our team, with the support needed to develop your skills and explore areas of interest.

You are a curious and motivated individual with a passion for communication and a desire to make content accessible and engaging for general audiences. You understand how to communicate effectively across different formats and channels, and you’re keen to help turn a strategy into creative, concrete outputs.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who:
- Are enthusiastic about public sector communication and EU-funded research
- Have a keen interest in ocean and water-related topics, and broader environmental issues
- Are eager to contribute to the implementation of communication strategies through original and engaging content
- Can think creatively, adapt quickly, and manage their tasks with a solution-oriented mindset
Work well in a team and bring a positive attitude – and a good sense of humour – to their work
Qualifications and technical skills
Education
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a master’s or postgraduate programme in communication or a related field
Languages
- Excellent written and spoken English is essential
- Knowledge of French, Dutch or another European language is an asset
Technical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Familiarity with social media platforms and their use in professional communications
- Experience with graphic/video editing tools is a plus (but not required)
- Familiarity or experience in editing website content (Drupal, WordPress etc.) / not required
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Your responsibilities
- Work closely with the project team to ensure accurate representation of the project.
- Understanding of communication planning and how to translate strategic objectives into concrete actions
- Ability to write clear, engaging content for various formats and audiences (e.g. websites, newsletters, social media)
- Confidence in working with complex content and making it accessible to non-specialists
- Interest in developing creative approaches and new formats for communication
- Track, analyse and report the impact of communication activities via relevant metrics
- Support other kind of projects undertaken by Arctik when needed
