#OurStories

The EEA and Norway Grants are funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and support local initiatives in 15 Beneficiary States in Europe. Through bilateral cooperation, the grant scheme aims to reduce social and economic disparities and make a more green, democratic and inclusive Europe.

Arctik supported the Financial Mechanism Office (FMO) of the EEA and Norway Grants in the production and promotion of the #OurStories video campaign. As part of the campaign, 16 videos were produced featuring the real people and communities involved in projects that are helping to make Europe green, democratic and inclusive. 

Arctik’s support covered 2 phases:

  • Video production
  • A social media campaign

We worked with the FMO to craft and film 16 unique stories – on key thematic issues (inclusion, climate action, justice reform, etc.) – and their dissemination across key communication channels.

From storyboard to film set

Arctik was brought in early on in the pre-preproduction phase to draft the scripts and storyboards for all 16 #OurStories videos. During the ideation phase, we worked closely with the FMO to agree on key messages and identify the profiles to interview. Each video required a unique approach and angle depending on the project, whether it was a mobile legal aid unit working with underrepresented communities in Bulgaria or a network of biosphere reserves in Portugal and Norway. For each, we coordinated interviews with the people and programme partners involved in a variety of green, democracy and inclusion initiatives.

We filmed 16 videos in 17 different countries, working with videographers in our network and editing with our in-house team of videographers, graphic designers and editors.

In post-production, Arctik was responsible for creating designs, sub-titles and animations that were visually dynamic and coherent with the style of the entire campaign. We also exported all videos in formats for social media (Facebook, IG, LinkedIn, …).

Multi-platform social media campaigns

Following the video production phase, Arctik launched and managed a full-fledged online ad campaign promoting the #OurStories video series on Meta, LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts.

The objective was to maximise visibility (i.e. the number of video views as the main KPI) and, eventually, bolster engagement across the FMO’s wider network and the relevant online communities.

Throughout, Arctik coordinated the set-up, curation of creative assets and messages, monitoring and optimisation of the video promotion. Optimisation and targeting techniques were used to maximise the budget and boost video views according to geographic reach and audience profiles.

Over 1 million people reached

The #OurStories social media campaign performed very strongly in terms of number of views and Thruplays, reach and impressions.

Utlimately, over 1 million people across Europe discovered the #OurStories videos and, in turn, became aware of the EEA and Norway Grants.
